Dr Katie Carter

Social Worker

Katie Carter (PhD, BSW, MHumRghts) is an Accredited Social Worker with over 20 years of social work experience garnered across three continents. She is passionate about women and their families receiving early, evidence based and ongoing support as they make their transition to parenthood.

Understanding that the transition to becoming a mother can bring experiences of grief, uncertainty, low self-esteem, relational challenges and mental distress underlies her interest in supporting women. Katie has significant experience working with women as they integrate experiences of trauma including sexual and childhood trauma, grief and loss and treating anxiety and depression. Katie works with couples who may be experiencing a lack of confidence in their abilities as parents, relational stress and intimacy concerns.

Recently Katie has overseen clinical leadership to Anglicare WA’s extensive community mental health and trauma services. She continues to lecture in social work programs at Curtin University and provides clinical supervision to others in her profession.

Katie loves to spend time with her family and friends. Heading to the beach in all weather, hiking trails and inspiring conversations leave her refreshed and happiest.
