Dr Jean Du Plessis obtained his primary degree in South Africa and trained as a specialist Neonatal Paediatrician in New Zealand and Australia.
A Neonatal Paediatrician is a Paediatrician who specialises in the care and management of newborn babies up to the age of 12 months.
Jean completed his specialisation in Perth. He worked as a consultant Neonatal Paediatrician at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children and was closely involved in the planning and setting up of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Fiona Stanley Hospital. He was appointed as the first Head of the Neonatal Department at Fiona Stanley Hospital and is still in this role.
He joined One For Women in 2019 where he is part of the team at SJOG Murdoch.
Jean is married to Michelle, a physiotherapist. They have two adult boys and adopted a rescue Greyhound. Jean enjoys the outback and playing golf when time permits.
